Double Duty Calm

Having waited more than 30 years to update this room, our clients needed their newly remodelled laundry room to deliver more function than just laundry.

Located on the second floor of a hundred year old Toronto home, this room needed to offer overflow office space in the form of filing storage, space for a copier, and office supplies. It is also home for extra beverage storage as well as storage for various other household items, like window screens. Of course, first and foremost, this laundry room needed to be a welcoming place to do and hang laundry.

Since existing the laundry pair was still working well, the new layout makes it easy to replace them when the time comes. The custom hanging rod looks stylish while offering necessary hanging space.

By raising the counter height on two sides of the room, there is a seamless run of counter for folding. The higher counters also make the off season storage of window screens and other household items a breeze. Unlike most projects where we use natural stone or quartz, here we used Lamitech Compact Slab by Weston Premium Woods. This is a carbon neutral, stain resistant, anti-microbial surface, that allowed us to under-mount the composite sink just as we would with stone.

A pair of wall sconces at either end of the room along with under cabinet lighting and a new central fixture provide plenty of light for this hard working room.

“Over the past 6 years we have worked with Gaddah on several projects in our home. She has always done a spectacular job! We are thrilled with the interior design and beautiful décor she selected to suit our lifestyle. Gaddah pays close attention to every detail and is a delight to work with. Looking forward to our next project with Yassein Interiors.”
